Purrs 4 Peace Week 35: Who are the Soulless? Seals or Humans

How can they do it? How can these hunters club, skin, kill these sweet little baby seals while their mothers look on, helpless and crying. Images of the mothers licking their dying skinned pups are heartbreaking to me. I weep for them. Why aren’t the hunters moved by the sights, sounds, smell of this slaughter. Why aren’t the officials in the Canadian government weeping for what they condone? I do not understand how humans can be so soulless and cruel.

I hope these hunters do not call themselves Christians because if they do they dishonor Christ with their claims. If there is karma or “reaping what you sow”, these humans will surely suffer an awful fate for what they do. I do not believe there is any religion which would look with favor on this truly heartless, soulless and greedy enterprise.

Purrs 4 Peace Week 19: Announcement - Healing bodies, healing the world

I am having great difficulty writing this post through my tears after learning this morning two gentle feline friends passed over the rainbow bridge: Buzz Edens and Kitty ACat. Buzz (photo on the right) and his family have been regular purrticipants in the purrs4peace project. The purrs coming from their home in Texas have been bountiful, strong and profound. I understand that Buzz’s passing was very sudden from lung cancer. The purrs will miss this valuable participant. Kitty’s passing was after long illness, but in no way did that lessen the blow of the loss to her family I’m certain. Buzz and Kitty, both beautiful little souls, have been lost too soon to this world.

Last week another good friend of this project, Kant De Boisleduc suggested that we purr for our human and animal friends who are ill and for the scientists who search for cures to disease. With the passing of our two dear friends Buzz and Kitty, it seems fitting that we purr for HEALTH in their honor. Let us also purr to comfort the families of Buzz, Kitty and all our friends who have passed. Our friends over the Rainbow Bridge are without pain and at play with one another, but the families left here miss them and grieve.

With respect to Emerson, let me say that Health is also Peace.

So much of our own PERSONAL peace is rooted in the health of our bodies, and also in the health of our friends and loved ones. If we feel ill, our ability to carry out the actions we want to take to make our world, and the world at large, a better place can be difficult…even impossible. And when our friends or family members are ill, particularly when that illness is chronic, any feelings of tranquility are replaced with worry and sadness.

He who has health has hope; and he who has hope has everything.

I believe that all is connected, the so-called butterfly effect: the theory that the flapping wings of one butterfly could eventually have a far-reaching ripple effect on weather events on the other side of the world. In the same way, I believe our health and the health of our friends and family members can affect the health and well being - and ultimately Peace - of our world. Moreover, each of us, like the butterfly, through our purrs, can affect the world.
Therefore, this week we purr for the healing of our friends. We purr for the healing inside ourselves. We purr for the healing of our world. We purr for peace.

Purrs 4 Peace- Week 14 Announcement: CHILDHOOD SHOULD BE FUN

Purrs 4 Peace was begun 14 weeks ago with a dream.... a dream that the calmness and inner peace that is inspired in human beings by the purring of cats could translate itself into outer peace. Peace in the world at large.

For this world to be at peace, the future of the human race, i.e., its children, must be safe and healthy. A major threat to the safety and welfare of this world’s children are sexual predators.

According to reports, there are approximately 674,000 convicted sex offenders in the United States. Frighteningly, an estimated 100,000 of those convicted have failed to register with local authorities as required. Police efforts to keep track of these dangerous predators living in our communities have been thwarted by the sheer numbers. This is particularly worrisome given that Department of Justice statistics show that sex offenders are four times as likely to be arrested for another sex crime after release from prison than other offenders.

The tragic reality of these statistics was illustrated recently in the arrest of a convicted sex offender Phillip Garrido He is accused of kidnapping Jaycee Lee Dugard when she was eleven years of age and holding her for eighteen years, during which time she was reportedly sexually molested. And with the discovery of human bones on Garrido’s property, it seems likely that more victims of this predator will be discovered. Garrido was at large despite the fact that his prior conviction should have kept him in prison for life and a conclusion by the parole board that he was rehabilitated.

Confucius Cat believes that offenders who prey on children are but another example of the narcissism which has reached epidemic proportions at this time on earth. These predators place importance only upon themselves, their own feelings and their prurient desires. They do not have empathy or compassion for those they victimize. They are blinded by their own narcissism.

This week we purr to put a stop to predators. This week we purr to protect the children. This week we purr for peace.

Purrs 4 Peace - Week 11: REALITY CAN BE TOO REAL

Welcome to week 11 of Purrs 4 Peace.

The most extreme consequences of domestic violence was all too graphically illustrated this week when Reality TV star, Ryan Alexander Jenkins, became a suspect in the gruesome murder of his wife. This man, who is also a millionaire real estate developer, was previously arrested on a domestic abuse offense.

Sadly, this murderous end to what is supposed to be one of the most loving relationships, i.e., husband and wife, is not an isolated incident. According to the National Organization for women, about one third of all women murdered in the U.S. are killed by an intimate partner. In the U.K half of all female murder victims died at the hands of their partner.

This week we purr to put a stop to this insidious destroyer of the peace of homes and the families who live in them. Purr to purify evil in the human heart. Purr to purrrfect. Purr for Peace.

PROJECT PURRS FOR PEACE-Week Two Announcement

Last week Confucius Cat announced PROJECT PURRS FOR PEACE. Simultaneous purring for three minutes, once weekly, for 52 weeks or until world peace breaks out...whichever is first.

Week One: June 14, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. EDT (U.S.) - What a success. Cats from the United States, United Kingdom, Norway, the Netherlands, France and Serbia took part and purred. We felt the peace spread, but from the news its clear it is not worldwide. So here are the details for Week Two:

• Week two's appointed time is Sunday, June 21, 2009.
• Participants should purr for three minutes commencing at 3:00 p.m. EDT (U.S.) which is 8:00 p.m. (20:00 hrs.) BST in the U.K.
• The cat’s human staff should assist their cats with the project by stroking and nuzzling the cat at the appointed time. 
• Please post your cat name and the country you purr in at www.confuciuscat.blogspot.com  as a COMMENT if you are participating in this historic project. (posting a link to your own website-if you have one-is encouraged.)
• Last week many (including yours truly) posted their purrs during the event on their facebook pages and on twitter. This is encouraged, since it inspires purring in others, but not required.  

Spread the meow to all your cat friends. One year of simultaneous purring.  Surely if we give it our all we can achieve Peace in the world through the greatness of Cat.

Headline:  Peace breaks out...attributed to simultaneous purring of cats worldwide.  What if this really was an actual headline in newspapers and news broadcasts in every country?

It occurs to Confucius Cat that humans have been unable to achieve world peace on their own. Why? Most people would say that they desire peace...certainly I often hear beauty queen contestants profess as much.  And since cats are the TRUE beauty queens and kings, it is only right that cats take matters into their own paws.  

All have observed -no doubt- the instant calming effect inspired by the purring of we cats. Thus, Confucius Cat announces PROJECT PURRS FOR PEACE.  Simultaneous purring, for three minutes, once weekly, for 52 weeks.
