“Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared” - Buddha
Welcome to week 15 of Purrs 4 Peace
This week’s purrs are devoted to GENEROSITY. So much of the discord and unrest in this world is caused by a spirit of lack and the attendant instinct to hoard. Fighting springs from fear and lack. Peace springs from love and abundance. When we see the example of a life lived with a spirit of generosity and giving, we can clearly see that the cause of peace in this world is advanced.
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give” - Winston Churchill.
This week’s purrs are dedicated to a life lovingly and generously lived: our friend Pepi Price (@Pepismartdog pictured above) who passed over the Rainbow Bridge on September 16, 2009 at age 18.
Pepi was an older dog of 12 when he was adopted by his human mum Michele who says she chose him because of his eyes. Certainly anyone that has seen Pepi in person or by photo (especially a photo of him zipping about in his pram) can’t help but notice the joy for living and the exuberance of soul that shone from him.
Pepi not only shared his love with his family and friends. He and his mum generously gave of their time at countless events to promote the cause of adoption for older pets. Their last special day together (at the insistence of the vet) was just the day before his passing. His mum’s description of a happy and barking Pepi dressed in board shorts, shirt and cap, (and even doggy cell phone) during their talk about the cause is truly inspiring. No doubt there are many fur kids who now have loving and safe homes as a result of Pepi sharing his story.
Pepi spread love during his life and his legacy will continue through all those he touched with his generous life well lived. We should all be able to say the same of ourselves.
Anyone that would like to donate to payment of Pepi's vet bills may contact @Georgetheduck on Twitter for information.
